In God-Centered Evangelism, R.B.Kuiper gives four purposes for evangelism—to save the lost, to build up Christ’s church, to advance Christ’s kingdom, and to glorify God. All four of these are important and of course God’s glory is the ultimate end of all things. But the one that Christians seem to have lost sight of the most is the purpose of saving the lost. We have little passion for the lost because we have little sense of the reality of lostness. Let’s take time to reflect on what the Bible says about passion for the lost.
